EigerStudios Price Sheet

Every project is unique, and has different requirements. The prices listed here are guidelines for you to consider for your budgeting process. Your project may be more or less expensive depending on the level of complexity or additional steps required to complete it to where we are satisfied - and you are thrilled. We want nothing less. Scan Prices
Our scans are done with an Aztek Premier Drum Scanner, in our opinion the finest scanner ever made. It has a 3 micron engine and is capable of an optical resolution of close to its ppi of 8,000. No other scanner comes close. We have a different philosophy than most places that offer scans. Rather than offer a series of prices for the amount of pixels, or megabytes, we give you everything that the size of your original film can deliver. This way we don't offer you a terrible scan for one price, a little better for a little more, etc. We give you the best the scanner can deliver - every time.

35mm $95 scanned at 8,000 dpi 500 Meg file
medium format $125 scanned at 8,000 dpi 2 Gigabyte file
4x5 $135 scanned at 4,000 dpi 1.7 gigabyte file
8x10 $150 scanned at 2666 dpi 3 Gigabyte file

We do understand that some needs are minimal, such as reproducing things that will only be a small image, say 3 inches wide, in a magazine or on a web site. We do offer smaller scans when there is no need to archive the image, etc.

We can also do larger scans, up to 6 gigabytes for 4x5 and up to 24 Gigabytes for 8x10. It's for those times when you want to make a 10 foot print. We just made a 20 foot long print of a banana. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, it takes all kinds.

Pricing will be affected, of course, for smaller and larger sizes.

Archiving Prices
For Large Archiving Projects involving many scans, please call for a quote.

Print Prices
All prints are Museum Quality, all papers are the finest 100% rag papers or cotton canvas available, and inks are archival pigment, non-dye inks.

Color is printed on our 54" Roland Pro 2, a 12 color "d'Vinci" Print System, with the widest gamut and the smoothest printing of any printer on the market today. Black and White is printed on our 54" Roland Pro, set up with B&W inks, 6 dilutions of Carbon Pigments. We are experts in Black and White and custom-mix our own inksets.

Fine Art Reproductions
Our work is done in conjunction with the artist, so that the artist is an integral participant in the process. By the time we are done they will know exactly what is possible with today's technology, and have an image that will match the colors (as closely as technology allows) to the original artwork. We do our absolute best to meet the artist's original vision and intent.

There is a fee for setup, which includes photographing the artwork with our 4x5 camera. (Yes, you get to keep the transparencies when we're done.) It also includes scanning the image to 1.7 Gigabytes and processing the file to a "first print." Processing of the file includes selection of different areas of the print for color, saturation and luminance corrections and making as many prints as are necessary to get very close to the final goal. This process is time consuming and may take 3-5 full days.

When we are ready to show you a first test print, it will be 10-12 inches wide, so that you can see all the colors easily and to get a clear sense of how the final image in its full size will look.

The fee for these services has changed. We have discovered that many print shops do this with a lot less effort than we do. They are matching colors to an 85% standard. We realized that we were spending the extra time to match colors to a 98%-100% standard. We apparently can't change our sense of quality so we have to adjust our pricing. We currently negotiate these prices on a case by case basis. We have repositioned ourselves to deliver only museum-quality prints.

Once setup is done, prices per print will be those listed above. At the completion of the project, the artist may request all the files. They will be delivered on DVD. We only use MAM media. Those that will continue to reorder will have their files kept on our multi-Terabyte RAID arrays and others may request that we store them for a reasonable fee.

**The Final Proof, which needs to be approved, signed and dated, is kept as a Studio Match Print (also called the BAT or bon a tirer). This Studio Match Print, (approval signed and dated) is kept on file at EigerStudios and remains the property of Eiger Studios.
